What You Need to Apply for Service

To apply for service from the Gallatin Department of Electricity, you must be prepared to present two forms of identification:

  • One must be State or Government Issued (Social Security Card, Birth Certificate, Voter’s Registration Card, etc.)
  • One must include a photograph (Driver’s License, State ID Card, Passport, Military ID, etc.)

You may be required to make a deposit, which is determined based on your credit risk. There are three credit risk scores represented by Green, Yellow, Red:

  • Green: No deposit required
  • Yellow: $150 deposit required
  • Red: $300 deposit required

Service Charge to Set Meter


$35 Next or Future Day
$70 Same Day before 3:00pm
$100 Same Day after 3:00pm

Customers may request, after 1 year of service and perfect pay history during the past year, to revisit their credit risk, at their expense, for possible refund of the deposit. The customer’s risk must be Green in order to receive a refund.


An additional $100 deposit may be required of the customer each time their service is disconnected for non-payment of the account.


Note: We Do Not accept a letter of credit from your previous utility in lieu of deposit.
